Dr. Rice graduated from the School of Veterinary Medicine at Colorado State University in 1983.  He then practiced in Texas in a large and small animal practice before joining the Arizona Department of Racing.  As the Chief Veterinarian he focused on animal welfare.  He joined the United States Air Force during Desert Storm and then transferred to the U.S. Army and was responsible for Military Working Dog care.  During his deployment in Afghanistan, after a spinal injury to one of the working dogs, he became interested in animal chiropractic to augment traditional standard care for future back injury cases.  He then pursued initial and yearly advanced training in this discipline at the three top Veterinary Chiropractic Schools in the world:  Health Pioneers Institute in Chicago, Options for Animals in Kansas City and Healing Oasis in Milwaukee.  He is now certified by the International Veterinary Chiropractic Association.  His chiropractic training enables him to better treat lame, arthritic and geriatric pets as well as younger dogs and cats that have silent pain from muscle and joint injuries.  Lieutenant Colonel Rice is retired from the U.S. Army Reserve.  After his tour in Iraq he received the Arizona Animal Welfare League's 'Veterinarian of the year Award.'
